Lawrence Muli

Tech Policy Manager

Lawrence Muli is a Lead Expert for the European Union Commission flagship €14M grant for the implementation of AU-EU Youth Lab aimed at giving micro-grants funding and supporting youth development organisations across 17 African Union Member States.

Prior to this he was the Africa Lead & Public Policy Manager, Counterterrorism Policy at Meta/Facebook Inc. in London, U.K for 3 and a half years as part of the Counterterrorism Team where he led and Meta’s content policy work addressing online radicalisation and violent extremism in Africa across Meta’s platforms.

He has worked 4 years as the Programmes Lead of the Youth Programme at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London where he received the Commonwealth Decade Exemplary Service Award for service to the Commonwealth Youth Programme (1973-2023); one of only 4 others to receive this honour.

He’s also led 3 years of advocacy, communications and policy advocacy for the African Union Commission’s Youth Division in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and thereafter was among 8 African volunteers giving technical support to the areas that were hit by the Tsunami Tokyo and Kamaishi, Japan under the AU-JICA volunteers programme.

He is also Co-Founder of the African Development Research Evaluation and Strategy (ADRES) Group; ADRES Group a regional consulting firm that has given technical assistance to Inter-governmental Organisations contributing to the institutions research, strategy and evidence based policy making.

Mr. Muli holds a Masters in Public Policy & Management from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London and a B.Sc.Environmental Science from Kenyatta University in his home country, Kenya and is currently pursuing The Oxford University Executive Strategic Management Course.

Mr. Muli is also passionate about mentorship of Kenyan and African students in the UK and across Europe and volunteers as the Education Partnerships Lead of the Kenya Society UK where he organises career mentorship engagements for University students.
